Do you require proof of vaccination to visit?

Yes, effective Friday, September 3, in accordance with the recently announced New York City mandate surrounding COVID-19 vaccination, we will be requiring all visitors ages 12 and up to show proof of vaccination for entry to NYSCI. What are your additional COVID-19 safety policies for visitors?

We’ve made several adjustments to ensure the safety of all our guests, including:

  • Timed ticketing: Reserve your tickets online ahead of time for expedited, hands-free entry! Be sure to arrive at the time designated on your ticket. Visitors will not be allowed to enter before the designated time on their tickets.
  • Mask requirements: For the safety of all our guests, many of whom are under 12 years old and not yet eligible for vaccination, masks will be required for all patrons at all times except when in the cafeteria. Thank you for your understanding.
  • QR codes: We’re making your visit as safe and hands-free as possible – look out for QR codes throughout NYSCI to order food, book tickets, and more!

 

Where is NYSCI located?

47-01 111th Street, near Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

NYSCI is easily accessible by public transportation.
By Train: Take 7 train to 111th Street station. Walk along 111th Street towards 47th Avenue.
By Bus: Take the Q23 or the Q58 to Corona Avenue and 108th Street. Take the Q48 to 111th Street and Roosevelt Avenue.

 

What are your hours of operation?

We are open Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays from 10am – 5pm and Saturdays from 10am – 6pm. We are currently closed Monday – Wednesday and on Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Can I visit Happiness Habits Lab, Rocket Park Mini Golf, or 3D Theater without visiting the museum?

No, admission is required in order to access these areas.

 

Do you offer discounted admission?

Do you offer free admission?

Every Friday (2 – 5 pm) general admission is free for all customers. General admission does not include Rocket Park Mini Golf, 3D theater shows, and programs and workshops that require additional fees. Reservations are required for free hours; visitors can reserve online the morning of their visit beginning at 8am.

 

Is parking available?

Yes, there is a parking lot available for customers for $12 per vehicle. Parking is not available during the U.S. Open.

 

Is there food available?

Our dining partner, Butter Beans Kitchen, offers a selection of salads, sandwiches, Hale and Hearty soups, chicken wings, chicken tenders, beef patties, yogurt, bagels, muffins, chips, ice cream and beverages. Butter Beans Kitchen is open during our regular business hours.

Outside food and beverages are not permitted in the café.

 

Can I bring a stroller?

Strollers are permitted in the museum; we cannot accommodate bikes, scooters, or other athletic equipment, so please leave these items at home.

 

Can I check my personal items?

For your convenience, self-service lockers are available starting at $5.

 

Are you accessible to people with disabilities?

We are committed to accessibility for all our visitors. We welcome the use of all mobility devices and have accessible ramps and elevators to access all floors of NYSCI. We also have a limited number of wheelchairs available.

 

What is the appropriate age for this museum?

Our exhibits and programs provide your entire family with a fun learning experience! The museum also offers a preschool area designed especially for children under the age of 6.

 

What is the photo policy?

By entering this public facility you are agreeing to let New York Hall of Science, news organizations, and/or media organizations take and use your photograph and/or likeness for any news or promotional purpose, including, but not limited to, use on our website and social media pages. No compensation will be provided for photographs taken and used for these purposes.

 

Membership

 

I’m a member, do I need to reserve tickets in advance of my visit?

No, as a member you can visit without reserving tickets in advance. Just be sure to present your confirmation email or digital membership card upon arrival.

 

How do I become a member?

Membership can be purchased either in person, online, or by phone at 718-699-1325.

 

I purchased a membership, but I haven’t received my card. Can I still visit the museum?

Yes, as long as you bring a photo ID, we can verify your membership in our database.

 

I’ve lost/misplaced my membership card. How do I get a new one?

NYSCI has gone digital! If you haven’t received your digital membership card, please contact us at membership@nysci.org, or call the membership line at 718-699-1325.

 

There are two adults on my family membership. Can both of us download the card?

There is only one download of the digital membership card available. However, a screenshot of the card can be taken and used as proof of membership status. Be advised that a photo ID will be requested to validate membership.

 

I’d like to add a Caregiver to my membership, how can I do that?

Caregiver cards can be purchased online here, or by phone at 718-699-1325. Caregiver cards are still physical, and take up to 3-5 business days to arrive by mail.

NOTE: If you have a Family Explorer membership, you are entitled to one free Caregiver. Please call us at 718-699-1325 to facilitate that process.

 

Membership Details

The membership term will be valid for one-year from the date of issue. If you had an active membership at the time of our closure (March 13, 2020), NYSCI will honor any remaining time left on that membership upon our reopening in July 2021.

Existing NYSCI members or NYSCI members whose membership has lapsed since January 1, 2012 are not eligible to sign up for a NYSCI membership with their IDNYC card. Please note: Persons under the age of 18 are not eligible for a NYSCI membership.
