STEM Night: Getting into a Career in STEM will take place on Saturday, June 5, from 12pm – 1.30pm, EST.

In this special daytime edition of the STEM Night series – hosted virtually by the New York Hall of Science – we will explore different pathways to get into a career in STEM (that is, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

Hear from some early to mid-career professionals about some of their successes, failures, and challenges they faced as they got into their STEM career. Join us as we talk to computer programmers, engineers, researchers and more – and ask them for advice and tips!

This event will feature two career panels featuring STEM professionals, as well as Explainers and Alumni from NYSCI’s Science Career Ladder program. Youth participants will be given the opportunity to connect directly with industry professionals through breakout rooms centered around interactive Q&A sessions.

Some topics we will cover include:

  • What are some of the STEM careers out there?
  • Early to mid career experiences in STEM fields
  • How to get a STEM role? What education and experience is required?
  • How to stand out in STEM fields
  • Seizing professional experiences while you’re still studying (internships, career development opportunities, etc)
  • Date: Saturday, June 5, 2021
    Time: 12pm – 1.30pm, EST
Audience: High school and college students who are curious about careers in STEM.
    Platform: Zoom.
Please note: This event has limited capacity – priority will be given to high school and college students. Confirmed registrants will be sent a Zoom link prior to the event.
